Baptism and Thanksgiving services
The Church of England offers two services for families with young children. A Thanksgiving service is available for families who want to thank God for the gift of their child, but who feel less able at this stage to make the strong promises and commitment needed for Infant Baptism. Both of these services are offered at St Mark’s, and I look forward to exploring with you the best one for you and your family.

Please complete the form below and return it to me at the Vicarage or alternatively at our Sunday morning service. Our Sunday services are normally at 10am on a Sunday morning, at which we have Sunday school and crèche toys available. Our Family service tends to be the first Sunday in the month and I usually invite families to consider having their children baptised in this service. But other arrangements can of course be made, as appropriate.

If you do not live in the Parish of St Mark’s then usually we encourage you to phone the Rector of the parish in which you reside to inform them. I can help you to find which parish you are in.

It is worth noting that Canon Law in the Church of England requires that Godparents be baptised members of the Church of England. However, some flexibility can be made here if appropriate. Please could you fill in the names and details of the Godparent’s overleaf.

As Baptism marks the entry of a person into the family of the Church, we would like you to consider coming to our Family services or to Alpha to explore in more depth some of the promises that Godparents and parents are making. We lay on a cracking Sunday school too to help children discover more of the great Love that God has for each one of us. I look forward to meeting you.
